SKINCARE FOR KIDS IN NEED|
WHO IS S.K.I.N?
A non-profit 501.C(3) created by a Los Angeles teen and supervised by prominent UCLA dermatologist
Joshua M. Wieder, M.D.
Skincare for Kids In Need's mission is to help build the self-esteem of teens who reside in the group homes in
Los Angeles by providing skin care education, products and dermatological medical care.
ABOUT OUR WORK:
Skin is always changing, and the teen years trigger especially dramatic changes. For teens living in a group home,
personal grooming products are often limited to soap, shampoo and toothpaste. Skin conditions such as acne may go
untreated in these institutional settings, and often teens become self-conscious about their appearance.
S.K.I.N. works with the manufacturers of professional skin care products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics to facilitate
donations of their products for these young people. We deliver the products to these selected homes, and also work
with specific manufacturers to share educational information about skin health and care. S.K.I.N. conducts
fundraising to purchase additional products that are needed by the teens, such as scar medicines. In severe cases,
Dr. Wieder may provide dermatological services at no charge to the facility or to the recipient.
Healthy skin is part of a healthy life. We’re inspired to do what we can--- and we hope that you will be as well.
